In most other locations, Heber would be considered a premier outdoor destination in its own right. Instead, it quietly offers stellar riding, hiking and fishing in the shadow of Park City. Dutch Hollow near Midway offers about 20 miles of hiking and biking trails. The Wasatch over Wasatch trail (WoW) connects the area to Deer Valley for a nine-plus mile (mostly downhill) epic. The Provo River is a Blue Ribbon fishery. There is also lake fishing on the Jordenelle and Strawberry reservoirs. In addition to the Park City resorts, Heber is also within a half-hour drive to Sundance Ski Area outside Provo. The Heber Valley is home to Soldier Hollow which played host to the Nordic skiing events during the 2002 Winter Olympics and is still a premiere cross country skiing venue.
